Feeding your bunny - By Sissylove85

Hello everyone!
Here I am to tell you how to feed your bunnies to make them happy.

First of all I want to invite you to read my first post about bunnies adopt a bunny, basics, so you will have first taste of the argument.

Ask your vet to give you some advice, who better than an expert can direct you. Everything I've learned, I was taught by my fantastic vet! Feeding a bunny should be composed of 70 % by dry grass (hay), which will be available all day in the rack, 20% from vegetables, no fridge and wash very well, and the remaining 10 % pellets, which is a food for rabbits whose content is mainly hay compressed into small cylinders.
You should know that a peculiarity of bunnies is that they have two pairs of external teeth (the ones that we see) and two pairs of internal teeth, which are more precisely located internally, and they fail to see the vets with a special tool. These four pairs of teeth grow at the speed of light, just to let you know once Romeo broke both outer teeth above the base, it was toothless (my poor love!) And after one week were returned as new! (thank goodness...) To do so they don't grow too much, they have to eat crunchy foods that contain enzymes that help to polish the teeth. If bunnies'
teeth grow too much, the less risk is they would cut off the cheeks, the risk that the teeth would be worse, being forced to grow up, would eventually pierce the nose of the puppy, and I assure you it would be nice, poor stars...It looks like a scene from a horror movie, but on the internet you will find photos of these cases. To avoid this, you can also use the filing of teeth by the vet, but it is very painful for the bunnies, then let them happy by giving him healthy foods and to help them polish those teeth!

Let's talk about the hay: in market there are various brands more or less good, some with the addition of flowers, dry fruits or berries. For example Romeo, who was always lively and sometimes stressed out because he couldn't get out of the cage, eating the grass of the brand "Bunny" with the addition of chamomile (which has a slight sedative effect) or the same brand with berries rosehip, with pleasure! Of course, if you decide to add something, that's fine too simple hay. The important thing to remember when you buy hay, is that you care it isn't "dusty", it might be too dry or old, and at that point would serve no purpose.

Attention! In markets there are several feed and snacks that are not good for them! For example, rabbits can't eat seeds of any kind, nor even carbohydrates, then let it sit all that contains them. As a snack, you can buy them closer drops of yogurt in various flavors, Romeo and such is crazy about those wild berries, taking care not to exceed the daily dose that is written on the package, usually 2/3. Alternatively, you can opt for a piece of apple peel, wash well and no larger than 3 cm 3, they are crazy about the fruit, but not good make them eat too much, a little bit every two or three days is ok.

Regarding vegetable speech is a bit more complex. There are vegetables that can be eaten at will and vegetables that should not eat more than a certain quantity, the vegetables should be clearly raw, thoroughly washed and dried, but most do not need to be cold fridge.

How vegetables are good for everyday fennel, celery, endive and carrot. There are also vegetables that should be given sparingly, such as basil, parsley, arugula, spinach and alfalfa. Other vegetables are even more toxic, such as potatoes, onions and legumes.

So be careful what you feed all our puppies, remember that the main causes of unnatural death in rabbits are food-related! Again I remind you to rely on your veterinarian when it comes bunnies are your best friends.Although this article is finished, I hope to have been of help and as always if you have any questions I'm here!Bye bye to all and see you soon!
